I hoped that here in Canada we would go beyond this just being a popularity contest. It seems that I hoped in vain.
Let’s go back a day to the performance show; Jaydee Bixby was just teh awful. When he performed the Green Day song Unpredictable I agreed with the judges: in this case delving outside of his comfort zone just highlighted his singing flaws.
Now push forward a day to results night. He was completely safe! Matt Rapley and Martha Joy were the two lowest vote-getters. Matt I wasn’t surprised; after a great performance last week he was just mediocre this time. Martha Joy on the other hand was actually pretty good, especially not singing a Celine Dion song… but of the two she got cut.
She couldn’t hold in her emotion to sing the show out - but at 16 I wouldn’t expect her to do so.

(Or as it should be called tonight, Bizarro World)
I wasn’t even remotely close with my elimination guess. Dwight D’eon was safe to begin with.
What shocked me was Khalila Glanville in the bottom three - and even more of a surprise, eliminated!
She had one of the most powerful performances last night. I didn’t even think she’d be there.
If Carly Rae is cut soon, the best performers will all be gone.

I missed blogging about Mila Miller’s performance and elimination last week. I’ll miss that aweswom ‘fro…
Overall the entire group of 9 performed well. I don’t say good things about JayDee Bixby though. Something about the kid just bugs me - so he’ll probably get to the Finals. That would be a serious mistake though; he doesn’t seem able to sing anything from our era.
Carlie Rae Jepsen is my front runner choice. She’s adorable, and her singing voice is very distinctive3.
Matt Rapley performed very well this week, but we all expect him to be cut this week.
As to who’s cut this week, I’d guess Dwight D’eon — not for a bad performance, just as the lesser of overall great ones.

Since I’ve now imported this entire blog to WordPress, I’ve been going over my entire archive of old posts to add categories to them. I’ve already done 10 pages worth, but I have another 825 or so to go.
Once they’re corrected, I want to edit the site design. I’m not enamored of the colors, or the chosen font. I’ll get my hands dirty to fix up the CSS files then.
